Ian Williams
Great Britain
WS Ranking 4
Team GAC Pindar

While he started sailing at a young age, Williams pursued a career in law. It wasn’t until he took a six-month sabbatical and won two Grade 1 events that he took up sailing full-time.  His early sailing career saw him dominate domestic match racing. He claimed the World and UK Youth Match Racing Championships, was crowned Senior National Champion at the age of only 19, he added the Grade 2 British Open Championship and then added a second senior UK Match Racing Championship.
Ian Williams has claimed six ISAF Match Racing World Championship titles. He is the only sailor to win the world title six times - 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016, surpassing match racing legend Peter Gilmour of Australia in the world championship hall of fame.
Back-to-back wins in the 2011 and 2012 Congressional Cup have earned Williams his two Crimson Blazers.  Looking to add to his impressive record and his wardrobe, he is back on the tour in 2017 fighting hard and smart to win his 3rd Congressional Cup and an unprecedented 7th WMRT Tour Championship.
