Top ranked sailors from around the world will compete in the Congressional Cup - the longest running Match Race in North America and our members have the opportunity to view the racing in Congressional Cup stadium from the Veterans Memorial Pier, located in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach.

The Congressional Cup is often referred to as the path to America’s Cup and many AC skippers have sailed our event over the past years - Ted Turner, Dennis Conner, Ed Baird, Dean Barker and James Spithill, to name a few.  A few other skippers: including Russell Coutts, John Kostecki, Terry Hutchison, Paul Caynard, Francesco Bruni, Phil Robertson and Dave Perry have had key roles in the current America’s Cup World Series.

As we approach our 52nd Congressional Cup, we think about the relationships our members have established and developed over the years with these internationally famous sailors.

No wonder these sailors refer to the Congressional Cup with phases like “the grandest of all match races” or “the one regatta every sailor wants to be a part of”. Congressional Cup will be the second event for the 2017 World Match Race Tour, a very special gathering of match racing's best.
