Long Beach Yacht Club

Dave Hood, originally from West Point, New York and Long Beach Yacht Club Staff Commodore, has accumulated an impressive record of performance and consistency domestically and internationally.

He and his team, DH3 Racing, finished 8^th on World Match Racing Tour and 14^th on ISAF World Sailing match racing rankings in 2022, qualified and competed in the 2022 World Finals in Sydney, Australia.

DH3 Racing finished 2021 winning back-to-back, coast to coast… Oakcliff to Long Beach. And started 2022 winning again in California – 3 in a row! At the 2022 WMRT event in Italy, DH3 Racing accumulated an 8-3 record in the round robin narrowly missing the semifinals.

In 2023 Dave competed in the following WMRT events: Ficker Cup, Congressional Cup, French Nationals, Oakcliff International, the Bermuda Gold Cup and the Finals in China. Recently went 14-0 for the Gold Medal in the Butler Cup, qualifying the team for this year’s Ficker Cup.

Dave is 8-time Club Champions at Long Beach Yacht Club, 2- time LBYC Yachtsman of the Year, and 5-time Class/National Champions in the Catalina 37s. DH3 has finished in the top 4 in 70+% of their match racing events.

LBYC has many excellent match racers – Dave is happy to be among them and proud to be representing LBYC. “Enjoying the Journey.”
